Henry Cavill To Play Geralt In Netflix’s The Witcher Show

The Witcher 3

The Netflix adaptation of The Witcher has found its leading man. Henry Cavill, who you may know as Superman, will play Geralt of Rivia in the show, which will run eight episodes in its first season.

Per Variety, who broke the news, comes the synopsis for the show:

The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, as he struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Cavill seems to be pretty pleased with the role, and judging from his post, he may actually know what he’s getting in for with the source material:

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be the executive producer and showrunner for The Witcher with Alik Sakharov, lex Garcia Lopez, and Charlotte Brändström splitting directing duties. There is no release date in sight just yet.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Man of Steel looks in a silver wig and with cat eyes, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Are you pleased with the casting choice? While you think on it, check out where The Witcher 3 places on our list of the best open world games.
