The Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Accolades Trailer Takes A Different Approach

Hellblade Photo Mode

Since its release and surprise success, the plaudits have been pouring in for Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice from gamers and critics alike. As an “indie AAA”, it’s presentation and handling of sensitive themes have been well-received, alongside its solid and gradually more complex combat system.

To celebrate, Ninja Theory have put together an accolades trailer, but instead of the customary smattering of review quotes, they’ve gone for a different approach: all the quotes featured in the trailer are from fans. Check it out below.

Adding to the community-curated feel of the trailer, it entirely consists of screenshots that were sent sent in by players. These guys have clearly mastered Photo Mode – I could barely manage more than somehow making a sunny landscape blurry.

To coincide with World Mental Health Day (October 10th), Ninja Theory also announced that all sales from the game tomorrow will be going to Rethink Mental Illness: a mental health charity:

“Rethink Mental Illness exists to support and campaign for those severely affected by mental illness. They help millions of people affected by mental illness by challenging attitudes and changing lives. We are delighted to be supporting this important work with this donation.”

If you’re yet to buy Hellblade, tomorrow would be the perfect day. It’s one of our favourite games of 2017 and we can’t wait to see how the rest of the industry picks up the baton:

“At its heart, when you strip everything away, Hellblade is a frank and unrelenting warning about helping others, to not let them drift further and further towards darkness. For that reason alone, Hellblade may just be the year’s most vital game.”
