Variety reports that Harley Quinn has been renewed for a third season at HBO Max after being moved from DC Universe. DC Universe is shifting to become a subscription comics service and will no longer be the home of the show, or any other DC series. As such, fan favorites like Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn have already found a new home on HBO Max and the other DC Universe originals will follow.
The news follows a recent panel discussion at DC Fandome over the weekend where executive producer Justin Halpern said that in a potential season three the team would “want to focus on Harley and Ivy’s relationship.” This is great news to any fans of the show left wanting more after the somewhat teasing “The End?” title card that followed Ivy and Harley confessing their love for each other.
The move for the DCU original shows is part of a larger shake up at WarnerMedia following the launch of HBO Max earlier this year, which left the fate of DCU, and particularly the shows created for the DC-specific service, in question. So the news that we will be getting another season of Harley Quinn brings a welcome sigh of relief with it for fans. More of the show is welcome news to any DC diehards who enjoy their comic book darlings with a hint of self-awareness and very healthy doses of extreme violence and foul language.
