During tonight’s PlayStation Showcase 2021, Sony Santa Monica finally debuted some footage for their upcoming sequel, God of War Ragnarok, which is scheduled to launch in 2022. Check out the debut trailer for yourself below.

A post over on PlayStation Blog from the developers sheds more light on what players can expect from the upcoming game, including the promise that Kratos and Atreus will be able to explore all nine realms, including the previously inaccessible Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard, with new locations promised for the other realms too.

There’s also a few more story details too, with the confirmation that the game takes place a few years after the events of God of War (2018). Atreus is curious about who he truly is, and who he could become, while Kratos is desperate to shelter him from bloody conflict with the Norse Gods. Unfortunately, Thor and Freya aren’t giving them much choice, and with Ragnarok itself approaching, it’s not looking like a fun time for father and son.
