Not content to stick to just one incredibly popular franchise, George Lucas has seemingly had to involve himself in Game of Thrones now it is back on our screens. HBO made the revelation in a behind-the-scenes video they released on YouTube after the season premiere.

Usually these short features just serve to give fans a look at how episodes were made. They get to see the special effects being produced and get some insight from the cast or crew. This latest 17-minute video had a surprise cameo from Star Wars creator Lucas. The filmmaker had stopped by the set to watch some of the action when episode director David Nutter asked him to give some advice to Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington.

Fortunately, he doesn’t seem to have been too involved in the directing duties. We all remember what happened last time he was in charge of an on-screen romance in the Star Wars prequels. From what we can see in the footage, he just has a brief chat with the actors while they are shooting a scene in Winterfell after they have been introduced to the rest of the Stark family.

The fact that Lucas had wanted to visit the set shocked the showrunners who just assumed that someone was playing a practical joke. It also seemed to create some nervous energy as he had inspired so many of the people involved in making Game of Thrones. “The first time I can remember telling stories was me as a kid meshing together these little stormtrooper dolls,” show co-creator David Benioff says in the video. “He’s the one who started our obsession with this kind of epic storytelling.”
