The Game of Thrones Season 6 Gag Reel is Here and It’s Adorable

It’s customary now that every comic-con, the Game of Thrones team will unveil the gag reel from the previous season, and this year has been no different. Well, a little different, in that this was the most ridiculous, rip-roaring season of the show we’ve yet encountered. The death toll was worthy of Quentin Tarantino adaptation of Titus Adronicus, the action was blistering and a lot of things fans had been clamouring for since almost the show’s beginning finally happened, or almost happened. That in mind, you might expect that the gag reel would reflect the mind-shattering awesomeness of the season that birthed it.

That’s not quite the case, it’s fairly standard, but offers some interesting insights into life on set. Rory McCann can’t chop logs, Kit Harrington can’t pretend to be a corpse without laughing/winking/covering his nads, Emilia Clarke can’t speak Dothraki and, crucially, Peter Dinklage can’t speak English. The whole video is framed around his repeated attempts to pronounce the word ‘benevolent’, as his fellow cast members attempt to keep their composure as he stumbles over the word again and again. Judging from a later moment, none of the crew are ever going to let him forget it. This still doesn’t quite beat the sight of Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau prancing into the Sept of Balor in the season 4 gag reel, but it’s still an amusing companion piece to an incredible 10 weeks of television.
