Gal Gadot Suits Up In New Wonder Woman 1984 Set Photo

With filming now underway on Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to last year’s incredibly successful summer blockbuster, star Gal Gadot took to Twitter to reveal a new picture of herself in full costume as Diana Prince from the shoot. Despite the sixty-six year gap since the first movie, we can see that Diana clearly hasn’t aged a day. Life must be good when you’re an immortal Amazonian Princess.

Director Patty Jenkins is returning for Wonder Woman 1984, which (big surprise) takes place in 1984. The plot will center around the Cold War, with Diana Prince finding herself in the Soviet Union, where she is forced to contend with her archenemy, the Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). We also know that Chris Pine will be returning as Steve Trevor, but don’t ask how, because not only would he have been killed when his plane exploded in the previous film, but being a regular human as opposed to an immortal, he would at least be in his late nineties by the time the sequel takes place if he somehow managed to survive. It’s safe to assume that we’ll only be seeing Trevor in a flashback.

Filming for Wonder Woman 1984 will take place across various locations, including Washington D.C., Virginia, Spain, and the UK. The full cast has not yet been confirmed, although we do know that cinematographer Matthew Jensen, costume designer Lindy Hemming, and editor Richard Pearson will all be returning from the previous film.

Although Justice League was certainly not the hit Warner Bros. had been hoping for, it’s still great to see the studio going ahead with the DC Extended Universe instead of giving up and calling it a day. The first Wonder Woman movie was a gigantic critical and financial success, so we expect 1984 to follow suit when it opens on November 1, 2019.
