It’s been a pretty solid start as far as Fortnite: Chapter 5 is concerned. As part of Season 1, Underground, a brand new map has offered plenty of secrets to uncover, the loot pool has changed dramatically with the introduction of weapon mods, and we’ve had more crossovers than a Space Jam and Avengers convention. But all good things must come to an end, and the first brand new season of 2024 for Fortnite is due to get underway.

Fortnite: Chapter 5 – Season 1 is currently slated to end on Thursday, March 8th, 2024 for those in the US and Friday, March 8th, 2024 for those in the UK, meaning the season will have been 96 days long — an about average length season, all told.

The game will go into downtime on March 8th, then after a good length of downtime (usually about five hours or more), the game will come back and be the Odyssey season, a Greek myth-inspired pantheon of dumb dances and probably yet more collabs. As of right now, a giant hand is due to burst out of the cracks on the Fortnite island to hint at the coming of Season 2, with even the Ice King set to make a reappearance and presumably kickstart Fortnite’s own original storyline again.

Don’t forget to grind out what quests you can before March 8th if you own the Battle Pass, as you won’t be able to keep unlocking items after the season ends.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
