Fortnite: Season 7’s newest update has brought with it a Cosmic Summer, meaning there’s new POIs, skins, and even a new item of sorts in the form of Alien Parasites.

These critters are some of the most fascinating things added to the game yet, working similarly to Apex Legends’ Octane in that they give you increased speed but will also sap away your health.

Here’s everything you need to know about Alien Parasites in Fortnite.

Alien Parasites Stats

As an unconventional item, Alien Parasites don’t have stats in the traditional sense.

What you need to know is that they will give you a 2X speed boost when attached, but will take you down to a maximum of 60HP — they completely ignore shields.

You can get rid of Alien Parasites either by jumping into water, setting yourself on fire, or having a teammate shoot them off you. If you enter water, they tend to just flop off and can then be attached to your head again by walking up to them.

Think of Alien Parasites as more complex Peppers and you have the right idea.

Alien Parasites can commonly be found latched onto wildlife around the map. Once you attack them, they will then try to attach to you.

However, as wildlife can randomly spawn, there is one place you can go that will guarantee Alien Parasite spawns. You just have to find Zyg on the map.

Zyg is located in Hydro 16, a dam to the east of Slurpy Swamp.

Simply wander up to any of the Alien Parasites and they will attach themselves to your head. It seems that Zyg can place two at a time.

Zyg isn’t hostile, but if you want to eliminate them, they will drop their Mythic Ray Gun for you to use.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
