It's a...!

It’s been a long time since the classic Damage Traps were in Fortnite, but Season 4 of Chapter 2 is bringing a new kind of trap into the mix: the Fire Trap.

Similarly to the Damage Trap, the Fire Trap can be placed on walls and causes damage to anyone who walks over or under one. While nowhere near as powerful as the classic trap, it’s going to be interesting to see how players react to it.

Here’s the location for the Fire Trap in Fortnite, as well as how it works and how much damage it does.

Fire Trap Stats

RarityCommon
Reload Time7 seconds
Damage50
Health`140

The Fire Trap hits for 50 damage and takes 7 seconds to reload. While that might appear low, it seems that the Fire Trap will also burn buildings around it, meaning that you may be able to trap players within a box and continually do fire damage to them. You will not take any damage from the Fire Trap.

Just like the classic Damage Traps of old, Fire Traps in Fortnite Season 4 can be found almost anywhere, whether that’s as floor loot, in chests, or supply drops. As they are also of the common rarity, they probably won’t be hard to find either. We found ours in within our very first match of the season.

As mentioned, it will be very interesting to see how effective these Fire Traps are and how much the community embraces them. While they are in no way overpowered, the fire damage they inflict might make them a nightmare for competitive play.

Here’s a video of the new Fire Trap in action.

One last final thing to note: the Fire Trap is actually a crossover from Save the World, where it’s been a part of the game forever. Here’s hoping there are more crossovers between both modes.

Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 4 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
