The Force Is Strong With The New Star Wars: Battlefront II Story Trailer

Star Wars Battlefront 2

The Star Wars: Battlefront II Multiplayer Beta certainly gave us plenty to digest. Some of it was good, whilst some of it wasn’t so good. You better believe we’re referring to those pesky loot boxes. But at least one facet of the game will be unsullied by pay-to-win shenanigans: the campaign.

If the latest campaign trailer is anything to go by, this mode could be the stand out highlight of next month’s release. The story follows Empire Commander Iden Versio as she seeks to retaliate against the Rebellion for the death of the Emperor. Call it The Empire Strikes Back: Part 2 – Versio Boogaloo.

Along the way, Versio will be interacting with characters we all know and love from the films. Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and- was that Vader’s hand towards the end of the trailer? Or Kylo Ren’s? It’s unknown at the moment how far the campaign will go to bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and Rogue One/The Force Awakens, but it would be interesting to go from the destruction of the second Death Star to the construction of the Planetkiller Base in one continuous story.

It’s completely possible that the plight of Iden Versio could be one of the better extended universe Star Wars stories we’ve seen, regardless of whether or not it ends up being canon. We’ll find out whether or not it’s actually any good when the game launches on November 17th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, though EA Access members will be able to play the game a few days earlier.
