Final Trailer For Doctor Sleep Is The Stuff Of Insomnia

The creepy twins are back again.

Warner Bros. has just released the final trailer for Doctor Sleep, and I made sure that I waited until morning to see it because I wasn’t taking any chances with my sleep. For those who have watched IT Chapter Two, you might have seen this trailer before the film played, so this final trailer release is old news to you.

Doctor Sleep is the follow-up to Stephen King’s The Shining, which was also adapted in 1980 with Jack Nicholson in the starring role. There is an exact frame from The Shining in this movie, with McGregor occupying the same position at the door frame that became an iconic moment for Nicholson, just to signpost to us the link between the two.

In The Shining, a sinister presence influences Nicholson’s character to do horrible things, while his psychic son Dan is privy to horrific tidings from the past and the future. Dan (Ewan McGregor) is now an adult, and in Doctor Sleep, he meets a young girl with similar powers to himself.

Now he finds himself in the position of having to protect her from a cult called The True Knot, who prey on young children like her in order to make themselves immortal. Don’t ask me how on earth this works; we are in Stephen King territory now, so everything is a little trippy and unhinged (I just had to make this door pun).

Doctor Sleep will be in theatres November 8th, 2019.
