Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase have revealed that the development team behind the game might release future parts to the ongoing saga in smaller chunks. The news comes from a translation of quotes that appeared in the recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake Ultimania book, which you can check out below (thanks VG24/7).

The two stated that currently, they know the rough outline of the story, but they don’t know how they’re going to package it: “We have a general idea of how the story will play out, but we haven’t decided exactly [how many parts], nor can we confirm anything. There’s speculation that it will be 3 parts, but we’re just doing things one step at a time.”

When asked about when we can possibly expect to see Part 2, Nomura says: “Depends on how many parts the overall story will be. If we divide the story into large parts, it’ll take longer to make. If we divide it into more detailed smaller sections, then developing it will be faster. I hope to release the next one ASAP.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Square Enix plan to handle the future Final Fantasy 7 Remake releases. Some might prefer the longer wait for a bigger release, while other could favour a more consistent drip-feeding of content. We’ll just have to see what the future holds.
