Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

There are few video games more beloved or iconic than Final Fantasy VII. That fact alone has millions paying attention to Square Enix as they ready Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for release in early 2024. There’s a whole lot we already know about this game, with developers promising an open world experience in the Final Fantasy VII universe that will be well beyond even the wildest expectations.

A trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth shows us Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, and other legendary characters from the PS1 classic enjoying the full force of what a game can look like in 2023. We know for a fact the game is going to be on the PS5, so can we also count on a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth release for Xbox and/or the PC?

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth For Xbox and PC

Can Xbox Series fans or even PC players expect a crack at this stunningly remade Final Fantasy VII? Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth going to appear on the Xbox Series consoles or PCs? No, there are currently no plans for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to come to any console other than the PS5. This is bad news for PS4 fans, as well, as some were still holding out hope that the game might eventually come to their system. Unfortunately, Square Enix has been pretty clear on the matter, and it seems unlikely that they will announce a release for Xbox, though PC is possible.

Are things completely hopeless if you don’t have a PS5? Perhaps not. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was released for the PS4 more than three years ago but did make its way over to Windows (and PS5) in 2021. There’s also Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion releasing to Xbox consoles and the Nintendo Switch. These facts at least suggest that Square Enix could look at other systems a little later on, but for the time being, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive due to a deal that Square Enix struck with Sony.

About Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Taking place after the events of Remake Intergrade but set up in such a way that newcomers can start with part 2 on its own terms, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will once again use its source material as more of a framework than a step-by-step blueprint. In other words, yes, this is a remake, but with story changes, new character elements, and so much more coming into play, Rebirth really is the best way to describe this latest incarnation of Final Fantasy VII.
