And Now For A Fighting Game Featuring Jesus and Buddha

Fight of Gods

You have to go big if you want your fighting game to get noticed in an industry that features the likes of Injustice 2 and Tekken 7. Having Jesus fight Buddha, though? Probably not the brightest choice, as chuckle-worthy as it might be for all of five seconds.

Fight of Gods is a fighting game which pits gods against each other and is currently now available on Steam through Early Access. Judging from the footage we’ve seen on it, it’s the definition of an Early Access title – it looks every inch the PS2 game.

Developed by Digital Crafter and published by PQube, who have the weirdest and most diverse catalogue of any publisher, Fight of Gods comes with Arcade and Versus modes with more Gods to come at a later date. The Gods so far include: Odin, Zeus, Amaterasu, Anubis, Moses, Athena, Jesus and Buddha. I’m not sure all of those are necessarily Gods, but the game is so ridiculous that I can overlook it.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Who will prevail in the ultimate battle of gods? Will Jesus, fresh from ripping himself off the sacrificial cross, smite all his foes with the power of his Punishment Fist? Can Buddha slap his opponents into submission? Harness the power of fire, lightning, water, plagues and more as you pit gods and prophets such as Odin, Zeus, Amaterasu, Anubis, Moses and Athena against one another in one of the most unique and outlandish fighters ever created.”

In a move that’s simply begging for someone to suggest Goddy McGodface, PQube are also taking suggestions on who to add to the game next. This is going to be a disaster.

Fight of Gods is available on Steam at 40% off face value until September 11th(!). For £3.35, I might have to play this thing myself and report back. I will likely come back an enlightened man.
