Fans Review Bomb Shadow of the Tomb Raider On Steam

Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider just released roughly a month ago, and since then, it has had mostly positive reviews on Steam. If you look at it now, you’ll find that it has mixed reviews. This is not because of some new-found game-breaking bug or any major in-game flaw, but instead only because the game is currently on sale.

This might seem a bit farfetched for some, but you have to keep in mind that the game only released a month ago, so for it to already be a whole 34% on sale (or 47% for the Croft edition) could easily be seen as a bit of a no-go, especially by loyal fans who bought it on release.

The game has since been recovering from the review bombing, but if you look at the review history, you’ll still see quite a lot of fairly new reviews putting the game down for going on sale so quickly. Now, this isn’t to say that every new bad review of the game only has a negative opinion of the game for that particular reason and are therefore not valid, but it does mean that you’ll have to take Steam’s summary of the reviews with a grain of salt and read what some of the other reviews have to say instead, before buying the game.

Jimmy, for example, wrote that he was struggling to even finish and review the game because it was just missing things that make it interesting. Some of the Steam reviews are saying that the game is a total slog, whereas some others say that it’s the best Tomb Raider game of the trilogy. As a somewhat confusing middle ground, one of the positive reviews even starts by saying that the game was disappointing.

The final entry in the new Tomb Raider trilogy released on September 14, 2018, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
