What’s to say about the latest addition to the amazing list of Fallout games that hasn’t already been said? Fallout 4 has well established itself as a very well and polished addition to the Fallout lineup, and with what seems to be avid support from Bethesda themselves to keep it bug free, and readily playable for anyone who gets their hands on a copy.
As custom by now, with most every Bethesda game, there’s a nice line of DLC coming. We saw a rich, fine, irradiated appetizer of what’s to come from the Automatron DLC no more than a month ago, in March. But I get it, you’re the most grizzled survivor in the Commonwealth. You’ve been to every location, seen every secret, and built your ultimate robot of impending doom.
What else for a seasoned adventurer such as yourself, is there to do? Well, I’d say just kick back, and enjoy the sunset at home, with Dogmeat. What? Boring you say? Well, you may think that as you’re standing atop your massive stronghold in Sanctuary.
Okay, I’ll take that stronghold, and raise you one Deathclaw. Confused? Well yeah, who’d want a giant, horrific, envoy of Death herself, in their settlement? Next to their homes? So close to where they sleep? Why, you would, silly?
With the Wasteland Workshop DLC, you’ll get the pleasures of going and finding those monstrous beasts that call the Commonwealth home, and capturing them, locking them safe and away in a cage, to be let loose at your own discretion! Improvised defense? Why would it not be? A fresh, able-bodied Deathclaw is sure to make a few raider punks run for the hills. Don’t like them running? Capture them too, and force them in an arena with the Deathclaw anyway! Or you could put Preston Garvey in there, as a subtle warning about how you don’t want to hear about that settlement just across the way that could use your help.
But then again, it’s not always about fighting, killing, and putting your inferiors in line, General. Yes, it’s not even about surviving the nuclear apocalypse, it’s not about making a home there. As the name implies, this bit of DLC is a full on expansion of the current workshop, in order to make your home more like yours. Humble, and secure, safe for everyone. Or Flashy, Extravagant, your name in lights for the entire world to see!
From small, planters for planting food where you’d not be able to before to large, signs of neon, for you to allow great more expansions, with the nice new metal structure pieces. Keep your settlements safer with new traps, from simple floor spikes, to rotating blades of death!
If that seems like your cup of tea, go ahead and try it out. And if you want to see some of this yourself, here’s the official trailer straight from Bethesda’s YouTube.
