One of the year’s most-anticipated horror games hits our shelves and digital storefronts today -cannily enough, on Friday the 13th, with the release of Bethesda and Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within 2.
The sequel to the polarising survival horror was announced at E3 2017 with Shinji Mikami once again the evil mastermind behind it all. You once again play as Sebastian Castellanos, who returns to the STEM world in search for his previously presumed dead daughter. If you played the original game, you know that things are about to get very twisted.
John Johanas, Game Director at Tango Gameworks, said the following on the game’s release:
“With The Evil Within 2, we wanted to give fans a compelling reason to return to the STEM world, a hellscape no one willingly intends to revisit. For the sequel, we took a more open approach to encourage greater freedom of exploration and to allow players to pick and choose how they want to play. Players must truly prepare themselves in order to survive.”
In conjunction with the game’s release, its soundtrack is also available through Spotify, Amazon, and iTunes.
Reviews for The Evil Within 2 so far are mostly positive with a score of 80 on Metacritic – its predecessor landed a 75, though there’s still time for the sequel to go up or down depending on new reviews. Expect our review sometime next week.
