Esports Boxing Club Looks Like A Worthy Fight Night Replacement

Now where's the Ready 2 Rumble Boxing remake? Anyone?

Esports Boxing Club

EA Sports made headlines today with the announcement that they’re returning to the world of golf with EA Sports PGA Tour, but for many sports fans, they’re hoping EA return to their boxing franchise, Fight Night. The series has been dormant for over a decade, but it looks like we’ll have a good stopgap in the meantime, as Steel City Interactive has given the world the first look at their upcoming boxing game, Esports Boxing Club. You can see the first trailer at the top of the page.

What’s Esports Boxing Club?

Far from just being a really catchy title, Esports Boxing Club is an indie take on the world of boxing, but with AAA production quality and licenses. The video above goes through the various features you can expect in the game, and while it’s certainly got some room to improve, particularly with regards to the impact of punches in my opinion, those visuals are simply remarkable.

Part of that has to do with the graphics and lighting, which look great even in this early stage, but the real attraction is the animations, particularly in the way that boxers dance around the ring using their footwork. Previous boxing games have felt rigid in this regard, but ESBC might be the best the genre has to offer. The game will feature dozens of licensed fighters, and the developers have said they plan to motion capture marquee fighters using this footwork tech. They’ll also be reiterating the punch sets and defensive stances to offer more variety.

Esports Boxing Club currently doesn’t have a set release date, but it is scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
