Episode VII Gets A Title: The World Assumes They’ll Get Used To It Eventually

When you have a fan base that legitimately qualifies as a religion in certain parts of the world, and your budget is roughly the equivalent of how much it would cost to send the entire state of Texas to a four-year college twice, you don’t have to spend a lot of time obsessing over things like titles.

J.J. Abrams and Disney could have literally called the upcoming Star Wars sequel Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Realizes It Forgot To Make Coffee, And Wonders If Taco Bell’s Breakfast Is Worth Trying, and the level of speculation for this extremely secretive movie would have remained the same. Instead, they have opted for simply calling it The Force Awakens.

The implications of the title can take us in a couple of directions. In all likelihood, The Force Awakens refers to the fact that those lazy Jedi bastards haven’t been up to much, in the time that has passed between Return of the Jedi and now.

No one knows for certain. In fact, no one knows much of anything. We can only say for certain that with Abrams finally getting to make the Star Wars movie he has clearly wanted to make since birth, we may perhaps eventually get a Star Trek movie that actually sort of feels like a Star Trek movie.

Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens is still on the books for a release next summer. Currently, the movie is still under investigation for the attempted murder of Harrison Ford.
