E3 2018: Bethesda Show More Rage 2, Andrew WK Also Happened

Rage 2

The game that made Walmart Canada an enemy of Bethesda, Rage 2 has just had its spot in the limelight at E3 2018 that sure would have been a nice surprise if we didn’t already know everything about it.

Andrew WK was also there, and that was nice.

You play as Walker, the last ranger of the wasteland. Never mind that, stuff explodes.

The gameplay demo focuses on Walker on a mission to take down the authority before climbing into a vehicle to travel to the Eden Space Center. Vehicular combat looks great; the blend between Mad Max and the first Rage game that you would expect.

Walker comes across the Goon Squad and quite thoroughly wrecks their day with some insane shooting and power-ups before the trailer cuts to a ridiculous promo of a crusher talking head for a special edition of the game. That might actually be real.

The gunplay looks super meaty and empowering; the shotgun shots made me feel like I am ten feet tall. Tne game seems to take some nods from DOOM in the fact that you need to clear rooms of enemies before you can proceed.

The trailer continues with Walker climbing aboard the Eden pod and receiving a new ability, which makes him even better at the killing. It’s worth noting here that the gameplay looks heavily scripted and optimised to the max.

Revealed early after some excellent Twitter PR to salvage a leak, Rage 2 looks like the original game with all the knobs turned up to max. The first game was a post-apocalyptic slog at times, so if Rage 2 embraces its silly side, it could fare far better.

id Software and Avalanche are developing Rage 2 together, which will launch in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Did this warm your cockles for more? Let us know!
