Disney have dropped the first trailer for Star Wars Resistance, a new animated series set between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The central focus on the resistance will showcase what became of the Rebellion once the Empire was taken down, before the First Order began its counterattack.

Resistance will tell the story of Kazuda Xiono, nicknamed Kaz, who is a pilot recruited on a top secret mission to gain intel from the First Order as they grow larger in number before the events of The Force Awakens. The show will also feature sky races presumably reminiscent of podracing. In the trailer, fans can see that the animation style is much more vivid in colour as opposed to fellow series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, so could be telling of a much lighter toned show. You’ll also notice that Poe Dameron and BB-8, characters from the sequel trilogy, are present in the first look at the series.

Created by Dave Filoni, the show is in safe hands with the director of Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Clone Wars and Rebels. The voice cast for the series is vast, and includes Christopher Sean as Kazuda, Suzie McGrath as Tam Ryvora, Scott Lawrence as Jarek Yeager, Myrna Velasco as Torra Doza, Josh Brener as Neeku Vozu, Donald Faison as Hype Fazon, Jim Rash as Flix, Bobby Moynihan as Orka and Rachel Butera as General Leia Organa. Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie will be reprising their roles as Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma respectively, which is a nice treat.

Star Wars Resistance will begin airing on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW on Sunday October 7th, 2018. Are you hyped? Drop us a comment on your thoughts.
