Director Rian Johnson Warns Viewers Not To Watch New Knives Out Trailer

Don't worry guys, it's not a Batman v Superman situation.

Lionsgate has just released the new trailer for Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, but the man says don’t watch it if you are already planning on seeing the movie. In his tweet to announce the release of the trailer, he explains his reasoning, commenting that the new trailer “shows plenty of new moments that are best experienced for the first time in the movie”.

You might think this is counter-productive, but it does make sense that if you have already decided that you are going to catch the film in the cinema, then it’s best to go in as in the dark as possible. This is why I avoided all trailers for Avengers: Endgame in the run-up to the movie’s release, because sometimes a trailer might end up spoiling something that you would have wanted to experience while watching the film. Essentially, only watch it if you are still on the fence about this movie.

Knives Out is a whondunit murder mystery in the vein of Agatha Christie, with a star-studded cast attached to it, including the likes of Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield and Christopher Plummer. The film has gotten rave reviews from the critics, with a stunning score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes at the moment, and a total of 59 critics who have already weighed in.

Knives Out will cut its way into theatres November 27, 2019.
