Devolver’s My Friend Pedro Releases This June On PC & Switch

*something about bananas*

My Friend pedro

If you’ve been going bananas* while waiting for a release date for My Friend Pedro, you really don’t have to wait much longer: it drops June 20th for PC and Switch.

For those unfamiliar, My Friend Pedro is an ultraviolent, ultracool side-scroller developed by Dead Toast and published by Devolver in which you are compelled by a banana to commit glorious acts of murder on bad guys. Having played it at Rezzed 2019, I can confirm that it’s as fun as it looks — even if the banana doesn’t seem to be voiced in-game.

The synopsis:

My Friend Pedro is a violent ballet about friendship, imagination, and one man’s struggle to obliterate anyone in his path at the behest of a sentient banana. The strategic use of split aiming, slow motion, and the ol’ stylish window breach create one sensational action sequence after another in an explosive battle through the violent underworld.

And the announcement trailer:

My Friend Pedro will cost £17.99 for Switch with 15% off pre-orders; Steam costs £15.49. No Epic Games Store for this Devolver title, then.

On another note, the official Pedro site now lets you talk to the banana himself, so that’s nice. I asked him if he like hurting people; didn’t seem to get it. Shame.

*I bet I am the 90th writer to make this bad joke since the release was announced. I do not apologise.
