What is Death Stranding? Nobody knows apart from Hideo Kojima and a small team helping him to develop it. What we do know though, is that Kojima is very proud of what he’s accomplished so far, going on to say that it will be his “best work”, according to an interview with Mark Cerny held during Develop Brighton.
“So far, when I’ve been making games, I’ve had to give up on something or at least compromise on something in order to get things done.
“But this time, working with you [Mark Cerny] and you bringing the state of the art technologies, we will get around that.
“I’m very confident that we’re working towards something completely new and that no-one has seen so far. This will be my best work so far, I’m very confident about that.”
Takes a lot to commit to a statement like that, especially when you consider most of his games have been lauded as some of the best of their respective generation. The Metal Gear Solid series revolutionised action games, so perhaps Kojima thinks that Death Stranding can revolutionise another genre?
So, let’s take another look at that trailer to figure out why it might be so great.
Reedus butt. It all makes sense now.
Seriously, if anyone can make sense of the trailer and what Death Stranding is, we will gladly give you a job. Genuine offer.
