Besides heaven and hell, humanity has always pondered the possibility of a third option. Some believe in reincarnation or purgatory, but what if that third option is a bar? Enter Death Parade’s Quindecim, an afterlife for people who died in pairs. You might think it could be fun getting sent to a bar to live in leisure for the rest of eternity, but think again.
The pairs sent to Quindecim must compete in a Death Game. Whether it’s a twisted version of darts or an arcade fighting game, only one contestant will win and get reincarnated. The loser gets tossed into the void forever. This fascinating concept is what first reeled in fans and is what’s keeping the desire for a new season alive. When is the Death Parade: Season 2 release date, and what would the season be about?
When Is Death Parade: Season 2 Being Released?
Unfortunately, after its 12th episode aired in 2015, Death Parade has not been renewed for a second season.
On the plus side, you can keep hope alive, as even if Death Parade: Season 2 isn’t confirmed, Madhouse hasn’t canceled it either. Many anime series have been on hiatus for longer times and come back eventually, so who knows?
On the not-so-plus side, Season 1 had a very “final” feel to it. The main plot lines were conveniently wrapped up, particularly Chiyuki’s. Some fans even say they’d rather not have Death Parade: Season 2 because it would just feel like a cash grab. You can only hope for a great sequel that doesn’t feel forced for a series like Death Parade.
What Could Death Parade: Season 2 Be About?
Unlike most anime shows, Death Parade isn’t based on a manga, light novel, or video game. The anime is made from scratch. Impressive, but it means there are no proper sources to predict what Season 2 would be about.
Death Parade’s episodes do follow a pattern though. A new pair enters Quindecim, you get to know a little about them, and they compete in a Death Game that reveals their true identities. Death Parade: Season 2 would likely follow a similar pattern. But then there’s the underlying plot that spans the entire season. There’s just no way to predict what that would be about.
Which Studio Could Make Death Parade: Season 2?
Although the plot is difficult to predict, you can at least make a decent guess with the producers and animation studios. VAP, DAX Production, and Nippon Television Network were the co-producers of Season 1, while Madhouse was its animation studio. If Death Parade: Season 2 ever comes, these are the companies to keep an eye on.
These are the companies that brought you other fantastic anime like Death Note, Assassination Classroom, and One Punch Man. They’ve more than proven their talent with making anime, so Death Parade: Season 2 would be in good hands.
