Dead Island 2 has a lot of fairly open-ended zones for players to discover, each of them crawling with the undead and, more excitingly, precious loot. However, getting around can take a while, especially if you’re trying to complete all of the sidequests, so a car would definitely come in hand. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Players cannot drive cars in Dead Island 2, and there’s never a lore reason given as to why this is the case. Cars litter Hell-A, but apart from the ability to search them for loot and use the batteries under their trunks, they serve no other real purpose and cannot be driven.
For some, this might be a bit of disappointing news, but it’s worth bearing in mind that Dead Island 2 isn’t actually world, it’s more of a series of connected sandboxes that players can connect to. There’s plenty to do in these sandboxes, but a lot of the locations are very close together and sprinting anywhere on foot really doesn’t take too long at all. Most of Dead Island 2’s most interesting stuff can be found inside locations and not outside, so you’d really just be driving for a few seconds between each spot.
If you really want to get around in Dead Island 2 quickly, simply keep on making progress in the story and you will eventually unlock fast travel to help you reach new zones in seconds.
Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
