Fair play to Bend for sticking with it.

Days Gone has just received a new update with the 1.61 patch which makes the file size of the game much more manageable for anyone with an OG PS4, as well as a host of bug fixes.

Days Gone 1.61 will ask quite a lot of your internet, however, with the patch requiring a 30GB download. However, as noted by ThisGenGaming, the overall file size will drop from 60+GB down to just 38; a saving of basically a third.

Here are the rest of the patch notes.

SIE Bend have supported the game supremely well since launch, which wasn’t the smoothest of rides. Days Gone was rather unpolished and struggling for QA, but Bend have worked hard to clean things up. On top of that, they’ve also added things like challenges and quite a lot of free items and cosmetics, including a crossover with Death Stranding.

While Days Gone was plenty polarising, it had great success in terms of sales with it beating out the likes of Kingdom Hearts III for sales via the PlayStation Store in 2019. Here’s what I said in my review:

Sure, it’s clunky at points, has enough rough edges to cut someone, and is perhaps too slow in getting to the good stuff, but give Days Gone and Deacon a chance and they will win you over.

Where would you place Days Gone on a list of the best PS4 zombie games?
