Are you missing a look into the twisted world of the El Dude Brothers since the end of Peep Show? You aren’t alone. There just aren’t that many great British comedies about right now with the same brutal, sociopathic comedy. Well, if you’re a fan of Mitchell & Webb, you can look forward to them being back on our television screens with er, ‘Back’.
Following the passing of his father,Stephen (David Mitchell) decides to take over the family pub. When foster brother Andrew (Robert Webb) shows up, you better believe that things quickly go tits up. The show has been written by Peep Show’s Simon Blackwell and have The Inbetweeners Movie‘s Ben Palmer in the director’s chair.
Blackwell said: “It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to write for David and Robert again, and very exciting to be surrounded by such a superb cast, director and production team.”
Phil Clarke, head of comedy for Channel 4 added: “To have Mitchell and Webb and Simon Blackwell working together is a very exciting prospect. It’s a unique configuration of some seriously big comedy minds.
“Simon has written a very funny and clever script with a strong emotional heart that takes Robert Webb and David Mitchell in a new and genuinely intriguing direction.”
Channel 4 is where you will find the new show currently in the pilot stages. Judging by the love for the comedy duo, expect a full series to follow pretty soon.
