The recommended watch order is Date A Live → Date A Live II → Mayuri Judgement → Date A Live III → Date A Bullet → Date A Live IV → Date A Live V → F Last Date. Place each television OVA after its associated season.
So, what’s it about? Well, Shido Itsuka handles supernatural disasters by dating the Spirits responsible for them and sealing their powers with a kiss. It is an unusual emergency-response strategy, although five seasons suggest that the paperwork must have been approved somewhere.
The franchise also includes two OVAs, a theatrical film and a two-part Kurumi spin-off. Let’s explain it a bit more.
What Order Should You Watch Date A Live In?
- Date A Live (2013)
Watch Season 1, episodes 1–12. - Date A Live: Date to Date (2013) — optional
This first OVA is frequently labelled Episode 13. Watch it after Season 1. - Date A Live II (2014)
Watch Season 2, episodes 1–10. - Date A Live II: Kurumi Star Festival (2014) — optional
Often listed as Season 2, Episode 11, this OVA adapts bonus material from Date A Live Encore. - Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement (2015) — optional movie
Watch the film after Season 2. It uses the cast and relationships established by that point and tells an original, self-contained story. - Date A Live III (2019)
Watch Season 3, episodes 1–12. - Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet (2020) — optional spin-off
Watch the first part of Kurumi’s separate adventure after Season 3. - Date A Bullet: Nightmare or Queen (2020) — optional spin-off
Watch immediately after Dead or Bullet. The two releases form one short side story. - Date A Live IV (2022)
Return to the main storyline for Season 4, episodes 1–12. - Date A Live V (2024)
Continue with Season 5, episodes 1–12. - Date A Live F Last Date — upcoming
Watch this after Season 5 once it’s released. The official anime website announced the new project in April 2026, but its format and release date have not yet been confirmed.
This is the recommended release-based order. The main television story remains understandable if you skip both OVAs, Mayuri Judgement and Date A Bullet.
Is Mayuri Judgement Part Of The Main Story?
Mayuri Judgement is an anime-original side story rather than a required light-novel chapter. It belongs after Season 2 because Miku and the Yamai sisters have already joined the cast.
The film is not a recap, but later television seasons do not require detailed knowledge of its events. Watch it for an additional adventure with the Season 2 cast; skip it if you only want the central adaptation.
Is Date A Bullet Season 4?
No. Date A Bullet is a two-part spin-off centred on Kurumi Tokisaki. Its story takes place largely within the Neighbouring World and introduces a separate group of Semi-Spirits.
Both instalments were released in 2020, after Season 3 and before Season 4. That makes this the least disruptive place to watch them, although their story sits apart from Shido’s main sequence.
Is F Last Date Season 6?
It is a confirmed new anime project, but it has not formally been labelled Date A Live VI. The title is Date A Live F Last Date, with Junji Nishimura directing at studio Fugaku. Until the official team identifies it as a television season, film or another format, calling it Season 6 would be premature.
Whatever form it takes, it follows Date A Live V and therefore belongs at the end of the current order.
Where Can You Watch Date A Live?
In the UK, the five television seasons are listed across Crunchyroll and the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel, with digital-purchase options varying by season through Apple TV Store and Amazon Video. Check the UK series listing before subscribing, as Crunchyroll’s listing currently groups only three seasons under one offer.
In the US, all five seasons are listed on Crunchyroll and its Amazon add-on channel, with purchases through Apple TV Store and Amazon Video. See the US series listing.
Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet is separately listed on the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel in both the UK and US. Mayuri Judgement is listed on that channel in the US, but its current UK availability is hard to gauge. We likewise could not confirm UK or US access to Nightmare or Queen or both television OVAs.
