Covenant, a new Polish game development studio formed by former CD Projekt Red and 11 bit studios producer Stan Just, have announced its first game. It’s called Gord, and it’s a single player, dark fantasy strategy game inspired by Slavic folklore. Check out the trailer for yourself at the top of the page.
So What’s Gord All About?
Gord sees players leading the Tribe of the Dawn as they attempt to build a settlement, or gord, out in the forbidden lands. Your gord will grow from a small encampment to a significant fortress, but you’ll also be under attack from the various creatures, mysterious powers and other, hostile tribes that call the woods their home. You’ll also have to manage the sanity of your villagers, as every misfortune that plagues your settlement will affect their psychological state.
The key selling point about Gord seems to be that player’s will have plenty of choice when it comes to customising their game experience. They’ll be able to pick the villagers they start with, what primary objectives to complete, the size of the levels, how intense the raids are, which enemies you’ll face (which hopefully means you can switch off the giant spiders) and more besides.
Gord is scheduled to launch in 2022 on PC.
