Christopher Nolan Rules Himself Out For Bond 25, World Is Disappointed

The choice for the next director for the James Bond franchise is very much up in the air at the moment but one man who definitely won’t be doing it is mega-successful, perfect-fit, Christopher Nolan.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, he told host Kirsty Young, “I won’t be the man…no, no, categorically” further elaborating, “I’d love to make a Bond film at some point… They don’t particularly need me but I’ve always been very inspired by the films and would love to do one someday.

After two films in a row by Sam Mendes, the second being the critical and financially mediocre Spectre, the franchise is in need of some new blood after Mendes declined to return for a third go around with 007.

After Nolan’s success with the Dark Knight trilogy and his many other hits including Inception (with its On Her Majesty’s Secret Service-esque mountain sequence) and Oscar darling Dunkirk, it seems like the British-American director will lend his hand to the world’s greatest spy at some point. Sadly just not yet, which is a shame really. Imagine a Hans Zimmer-scored Bond with Nolan giving it the Batman Begins treatment. Sort it out, Chris.

Bond 25 is due November 2019.
