Castlevania: Season 5 – What You Should Know

Netflix Castlevania

Though as enticing as the thought of a vampire anime sounds, it’s actually pretty difficult to pull off something amazing over and over again within this genre. However, Castlevania is one such special case of an animated series that’s continuously over-delivered with all four of its seasons. By the looks of it, the misadventures of Trevor and Sypha seem to be over, so will there ever be a Castlevania: Season 5?

Unfortunately, Netflix has confirmed that Castlevania: Season 5 will not happen, although that’s not the end of the story. Instead, the streaming company confirmed that a new spin-off sequel animated series titled Castlevania: Nocturne is in production. Much about the future of the Castlevania franchise still remains unknown, but here’s an overview of everything we know so far.

When Is Castlevania: Season 5 Coming Out?

Castlevania: Season 5 will not happen, so sadly, there’s no release date for it. Having said that, the franchise will still be continuing as Castlevania: Nocturne, a spin-off sequel to the original series that’ll probably release sometime by fall 2023.

So in one regard, Castlevania: Nocturne is in fact Castlevania: Season 5, but likely due to the series now focusing on a new cast and the probable continuation of it for a few seasons, it makes sense why Netflix went with this take.

What Is Castlevania: Season 5 About? (Spoiler Alert)

The sequel series Castlevania: Nocturne will be set many years after the events of Castlevania: Season 4. It’ll follow the story of Richter Belmont, the descendant of our vampire-slaying couple Trevor and Sypha.

For now, Netflix has only revealed a synopsis of what to expect, but knowing how Castlevania’s plot always revolves around Dracula somehow, we’re sure you’ll get to see a few cameos from the original series.

Which Studio Is Making Castlevania: Season 5?

The first four seasons of Castlevania were made by Powerhouse Animation. This time around though, it’s technically not Castlevania: Season 5 that’s returning. Still, for Castlevania: Nocturne, our money’s on the Powerhouse due to the impeccable visuals it has delivered so far.

Yes, the plot was great, but the animation was outstanding. The eerie contrast matched Castlevania’s murdery vibes remarkably well, and the details added to that experience tenfold, so hopefully, Powerhouse Animation blesses us once again with Castlevania: Nocturne.

Where Will Castlevania: Season 5 Be Aired?

The Castlevania animated franchise is a Netflix exclusive, and as such, that’s the only place where you can see some vampire-hunting action. Castlevania: Season 5, or rather Castlevania: Nocturne, has also been confirmed to be a Netflix original, so that’s where you’ll have to head next once the series releases.

Castlevania: Season 5 turned out to be a dead end. Luckily, Netflix didn’t neglect the massive fanbase for the franchise and has given us Castlevania: Nocturne, another innovative saga set in the same universe, to look forward to, so here’s hoping it’s just as good as the original.
