The Case For Carmella As Miss Money In The Bank

WWE made history at the Money in the Bank event two weeks ago when they allowed five women to fight it out to crown the first ever Miss Money in the Bank in the traditional ladder match. But when it came down to it, no one really gave Carmella a chance.

Carmella and Tamina were the only two women in the match who had failed to lift gold in their WWE careers . Most of the WWE Universe had already decided Natalya or Charlotte should be the winner.

Carmella has been on the sidelines of the Women’s Championship picture ever since she was drafted to Smackdown in the summer of 2016. She managed to have a stand out feud with Nikki Bella before being joined by James Ellsworth, which has only made her the hated star she was always destined to become.

WWE wanted to get the world talking when they allowed Ellsworth to climb that ladder. They didn’t believe in the women enough to think that the world would talk about them without the controversy. But Carmella retained her Money in the Bank contract this past week on Smackdown and now she is guaranteed a future shot at the Women’s Championship.

Having never held a championship in WWE, this is the best push Carmella has ever had, and it could prove to the WWE Universe that there really is strength and depth in the Smackdown women’s division.

Just because Charlotte is a former four-time Raw Women’s Champion doesn’t mean she deserves to dominate the same way on Smackdown. It’s nice to see fresh faces like Carmella step into the spotlight, and to see WWE giving Lana the chance to prove her worth in the women’s title picture as well.

Carmella and Ellsworth make a fantastic team and having them together means every time Naomi comes out wearing that Women’s Championship, the WWE Universe will be on edge. Money in the Bank cases work better with cocky heels. CM Punk and Seth Rollins proved that and what the WWE Universe doesn’t know yet is that Carmella is about to become very entertaining.

The Mae Young Classic is about to bring in women from all over the world, and it is great to see that for once WWE is open to pushing new and younger stars to the top. It means Smackdown Live really is living up to its name as “The land of opportunity.”
