Yesterday, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was properly revealed to the world after a series of devastating leaks. While we’ve already touched on some of the campaign details you can expect when the game launches on November 13th for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a next-gen release set for this Holiday season.

Just like the previous Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War will support cross-play for its mulitplayer, and will also support cross-generational play, meaning Xbox Series X and PS5 players will still be matched with previous generation players. It’s a great way of ensuring that the player base isn’t split by the new consoles.

With regards to the next-gen upgrades, players will have to pay a $10 premium to experience the upgrades that the new consoles will offer. The Cross-Gen bundle, which costs $70, will offer entitlements to both generations in the same console family, while the current-gen Standard Edition costs $60 and offers no upgrade. However, it’s worth noting that the next-gen version alone will cost $70 anyway.

On top of that, players will still be able to play the previous gen versions through backwards compatibility on their new hardware, and there will be the option to upgrade the current-gen version to next-gen for a small fee instead of double dipping. It’s not the best, don’t get me wrong, but in the face of NBA 2K21 and Control Ultimate Edition, this isn’t too bad. As for those eyeing up the Ultimate Edition, you’ll also receive both versions of the game, on top of other goodies like new skins and season 1 of the Battle Pass, with 20 tier skips.

Black Ops Cold War will include a brand new Zombies mode, along with compatibility with Warzone, as operators, skins and items earned from Battle Pass progression in Black Ops Cold War will also work in Warzone. Any progression made in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War will level up the Battle Pass, and items earned from Modern Warfare will still work in Warzone. If you want to know more details about the multiplayer, there will be a gameplay reveal on September 9th.
