Wrestling legend Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart has reportedly signed a new deal with WWE, following rumours that he was set to start appearing regularly for Tony Khan’s AEW to manage FTR.
Hart, who has already scheduled a managerial appearance alongside FTR at an event for Big Time Wrestling in June, will now effectively be banned from appearing for promotions outside of Vince’s reach. However, the Wrestling News Observer have stated that Bret’s new contract is incredibly lucrative, potentially allowing him to make indie dates that aren’t necessarily affiliated with AEW.
This comes as AEW’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament is in full-swing, pitting some of the best, pure wrestlers against one another in a series of excellent matches. Despite being closely linked with the Hart family, Bret has apparently not been invited to take part in the proceedings, which is odd considering how much buzz there is around the new charity and how hard Bret has fought for his brother’s reputation within the business.
Whether this means Bret Hart will be given an on-screen role or simply another Legends contract is still unknown. It’s likely that considering the scheduled role he was set to take in AEW, WWE may want to pair him up with a fledging star with a similar style, which could be a huge rub for that particular star.
