Brand New to Release Possible Final Album in 2016

It’s been an anxious wait for Brand New fans since 2009’s criminally underloved Daisy was released. Rumours of a new album have been circulating ever since with only a smattering of live shows and a new song in seven years to keep them satiated.

According to information from the band’s PR, we may not have to wait much longer.

Cryptic and intriguing, an email sent out lists plenty to whet Brand New fans’ appetites. Details of live shows in Canada as well as an extensive tour with Modest Mouse grab the attention, along with the announcement of old demos being released by the band, now available on Spotify.

However, all of that has to take a backseat to the big news: Brand New will release their most likely final album sometime in 2016.

Brand new new album

What form the new album will take remains to be seen, though it’s expected that it will go down the conventional route. All of their fans are no doubt hoping that they don’t pull a Wu-Tang and release an album that only one person can listen to.

The possibility of a new album being Brand New’s last comes about from frontman Jesse Lacey’s recent comments during a gig. Speaking to the crowd, he said: “I’m gonna tell you right here and now this isn’t gonna last much longer.”

The email also announces new albums from Kevin Devine and Greater Pyrenees. Check out the email in full here.
