WWE seems to be creeping into the biopic film genre, with both Fighting With My Family and the now confirmed Pandemonium in the works. Both films will focus on a specific WWE household name, but one that producers are considering to be a potential front-runner for various awards is the latter, which will focus on the storied lifetime of WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

Vinnie Mac is one hell of a character, to say the least. For those unfamiliar, which I can imagine is very few of our readers, Vince is essentially a wrestling and entertainment entrepreneur, the man who changed the wrestling world into the behemoth that it is today. He’s eccentric, his stories are inconceivable and is larger than life. A film detailing his life’s work should be a magnificent watch.

So who has been sought out to portray such a man? None other than Academy Award nominee, star of the likes of Silver Linings Playbook and The Hangover: Bradley Cooper.

Definitely not the first name I’d have in mind to play someone like Vince, in fact the first that comes to mind would be J.K. Simmons, which only goes to show just how strange this casting is. Nevertheless, Cooper has demonstrated in the past that he has a wide range of performances at hand, which means he’s likely to be able to be the admirable yet deluded genius that McMahon is to this day.

Pandemonium has been a source of controversy in the wrestling and film worlds, after the script was criticised by WWE Studios for being somewhat racy in terms of what it was including as part of the narrative. The McMahon family have certainly left their mark on the script, ensuring that it represents them in a way which pleases them. So who knows how accurate the portrayal of Vince is going to be, should Cooper agree to take the part.

I for one think this will be an intriguing watch for fans of wrestling and of the biopic genre, who would you cast as the rest of the McMahon family? Let us know in the comments below.
