After the success of Season 1, the countdown for Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 is on. Or is it? Blue Spirit and Netflix Animation’s latest creation tells the tale of a half-Japanese, half-Caucasian samurai on the path of vengeance. Her path still extends far into the horizon though.

By the end of Season 1, Mizu almost crosses Fowler off her list but decides to keep him for information. Last seen caging up Fowler and boarding a ship, where is the young samurai headed off to now? Here’s everything you should know about Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2

When Is Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t renewed Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 yet. The show was obviously written to have multiple seasons. Mizu’s vengeance isn’t over yet, so it’ll all depend on whether or not Netflix approves of another season.

In comparison, Netflixed announced Blue Eye Samurai: Season 1 three years before its release. So, even when the renewal comes, Season 2 probably won’t come out anytime soon.

What Is Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 About?

Blue Eye Samurai is an original story, not an adaptation. So you can’t just open up a book or comic and see what the future holds. However, interviews and the show itself have left some important clues behind.

The Season 1 finale shows Mizu sparing Fowler’s life in the hopes of him leading her to the remaining white traders: Skeffington and Routley, one of which could be Mizu’s biological father. According to Fowler, to reach them, Mizu must sail halfway across the world to London.

In an interview with Variety, Jane Wu, Blue Eye Samurai’s supervising director and producer, sheds more light on the sequel. It seems that most, if not all, of Season 2 will be set in London, chasing down the two remaining contraband traffickers.

It’ll be interesting to see how Mizu further interacts with Fowler, one of her sworn enemies, now her prisoner. Don’t forget that Fowler is still a candidate to be Mizu’s real father either, though he claims to have accounted for all of his offspring already.

Due to her mixed heritage, Mizu has always been a fish out of water in Japan. But will moving to England change that? Or does her Japanese blood make her as much of an outcast as ever?

Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 Confirmed Cast

Once Season 2 comes, here are the cast members expected to reprise their roles. However, this is only speculation. If the majority of Season 2 is truly set in London, then most of the previous cast members might not even appear. The only recurring characters expected to reach London and get a lot of screen time are Mizu and Fowler.

  • Maya Erskine as Mizu
  • Kenneth Branagh as Abijah Fowler
  • Masi Oka as Ringo
  • Darren Barnet as Taigen
  • Brenda Song as Princess Akemi

Where To Watch Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 In The US?

Although it hasn’t been renewed yet, Netflix will most likely stream Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 for the US audience. It’s where Season 1 calls its home. Additionally, Netflix Animation is one of Blue Eye Samurai’s co-producers. This gives the platform exclusive rights to stream it.

Netflix Animation is currently working on two other animation series: Exploding Kittens and a new Tomb Raider show.

Where To Watch Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 In The UK?

The US isn’t the only country getting the goods from Netflix. UK fans should also be able to watch Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 on Netflix. Again, Netflix is the only place to watch Season 1 in the UK.

That doesn’t just apply to the US and UK. No matter where you are in the world, Netflix is practically the only legal option. If Blue Eye Samurai isn’t available in your region’s Netflix, using a VPN to switch your IP address to the US or UK will solve the problem.

How Many Episodes Will Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 Have?

Until the renewal gets confirmed, fans can only guess how many episodes it’ll have. Season 1 had eight episodes, so that’s a likely possibility for Season 2. However, if Season 1 is successful enough, there’s a chance of Netflix giving it a bigger budget and longer runtime. Fingers crossed.

Does Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 Have A Trailer?

No renewals, no trailers. Fans will have to wait for Netflix to renew Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 before any hopes for a trailer can even rise.

Regardless of renewals, trailers might not come anytime soon anyway. The trailer for Season 1 came out only one month before release. The show’s newfound popularity might change that, but only time will tell.
