Blood Sprays In Hellboy Red Band Trailer

Definitely not PG-13.

Hellboy

Lionsgate released a new red band trailer for their upcoming Hellboy reboot, and it’s as bloody as ever. If you can handle the red stuff, you can check it out below.

Hellboy follows the exploits of the superpowered demon of the same name, here played by David Harbour of Stranger Things fame. Saving the world on a regular basis is clearly no easy feat, and it looks like our favorite demon from Hell will have his work cut out for him as he contends with evil sorceress Nimue, played by Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich.

Golden Globe winner Ian McShane will also appear as Trevor Bruttenholm, Hellboy’s adoptive father, with Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio, a B.P.R.D. agent with the ability to transform into a jaguar. Other cast members include Sasha Lane, Thomas Haden Church, Sophie Okonedo, and Brian Gleeson as Merlin the wizard.

Unlike the two previous Hellboy movies, which were both rated PG-13, the reboot will proudly carry an R-rating, and as you can see from the trailer, it certainly doesn’t hold back in the gore department. This should please fans who were hoping the film would stay true to the adult nature of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy comic books instead of going for a lower age rating in an effort to draw in a teen crowd. Harbour also regularly texted Mignola questions about Hellboy’s personality, so we know he’s certainly going to deliver an authentic performance.

The film is being directed by Neil Marshall, who previously helmed horror classics such as Dog Soldiers and The Descent, and it will be released on April 12.
