Here’s Some Cool Blade Runner 2 Art

Blade Runner 2

It seems almost unreal that Blade Runner 2 is actually happening. It’s the sequel that some were baying for, but most fans of the original would probably be content to leave the story as it is, including myself. That being said, this Blade Runner 2 art released by Entertainment Weekly has me interested.

The follow-up to the 1982 will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, probably best known for his work on the excellent Sicario. In an interview with EW, Villeneuve described how the terrible LA climate of the original will be even worse in the sequel:

“The climate has gone berserk–the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic. It’s a Canadian wet dream!”

On working with Hampton Fancher, acclaimed writer of the original film:

“He told me that Blade Runner was a dream. We just have to dream again and not worry too much about logic. That removed so much pressure and gave me the key to move forward.”

These pieces of concept art and comments from the director are pretty much all we have to go off regarding Blade Runner 2. We know that it will be set in LA again decades later, but what roles Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista will play remains to be seen, though it’s expected that Harrison Ford’s return will be as definite replicant Deckard. Ridley Scott will be taking on producing roles, because he is a man that never rests.

Blade Runner 2 will open in theaters on October 6th, 2017.
