UPDATE: Netflix decided to delay Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King due to production issues. The new release date for the movie is June 16, 2023.
The latest trailer for Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King was shockingly good and seeing Asta and the Magic Knights return couldn’t make fans any happier. But along with its spectacular first impressions, the movie also left us with a release date to look forward to, March 31, 2023.
The anime ended on March 30, 2021, and who would’ve thought the anime would make its return exactly two years later with what looks like a banger of a movie so far?
What Is Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King About? (Spoiler Alert)
If you’re wondering what the plot of Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will be about, then surprisingly, the creator Yūki Tabata has stated that it’ll be a completely original story never seen before in the manga. Aside from that, the movie will introduce the 27th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, Konrad Leto.
We can’t say for sure if Leto will be a major part of the movie as Asta was revealed to be in the trailer. By the time Asta gains his powers, Julius is the Wizard King and Konrad’s never mentioned once, so it’ll be intriguing to see how Konrad fits into the grand scheme of things.
Which Studio Is Making Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King?
It’s been confirmed that Studio Pierrot will be animating Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. Pierrot’s no stranger to bringing out the best in Shōnen anime and it has proved that over the years with how well the Black Clover anime was visualized.
Fans were a bit worried at first about whether Pierrot will put its soul into making the movie. Luckily, the trailer blew everyone away and the hype couldn’t be any bigger for its release.
Where Will Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Be Aired?
Pretty much everyone was expecting that Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will hit theaters first and then probably be made available to stream about a year later, as is seen with most anime films like Jujutsu Kaisen 0. But as it turns out, Netflix has officially licensed the film and it’ll be available to stream on their service from day one, aside from screening in cinemas.
There’s still a lot of uncertainty concerning the plot and setting of the film, though from what we’ve gathered so far, the film looks amazing, so be sure to catch it on Netflix in 2023.
