Billie Eilish Releases No Time To Die Theme Song

"Now you'll never see me cry, there's just no time to die."

Billie Eilish released the theme song for the latest James Bond movie No Time To Die, which has the same title as the movie. She teased the song’s debut on twitter yesterday, sharing a brief snippet of it, but certainly enough to hook us. Some were initially skeptical at the idea of her helming the theme song, especially considering the heavyweight musicians who came before her.

Sam Smith’s Writing’s on the Wall, which was the theme song for Spectre, won him an Oscar (Best Original Song). And Adele is such a notable presence in the world of music, performing Skyfall to perfection (as the song title suggests, it was for the Bond movie Skyfall). Eilish’s sharing of her and her brother Finneas’ love for the franchise has helped in thawing the wall of doubt.

So what do we think about the song now that it has arrived? There is certainly a melancholic and mournful vibe to the song, where it speaks about betrayal. The lyrics go: “Fool me once, fool me twice, are you death or paradise?” It seems to be hinting at Madeleine’s betrayal of Bond in the trailer.

This raw, haunting quality in her music is where Eilish shines the most, and even though she is known mostly for Bad Guy, it is songs like When the Party’s Over that hit harder. So have a listen and tell us what you think.

No Time To Die will be released in UK cinemas April 2 this year, while US cinemas will get the movie April 10, 2020.
