Batman Ninja Anime Film Receives A New Batch Of Stills

batman ninja still9

Arguably one of the strangest animated movies based on a DC Comics property, Batman Ninja looks just about as crazy as it sounds. Warner Bros. have just released a new batch of stills for the insane anime film, which do a great job of showcasing the character designs created by Afro Samurai’s Takashi Okazaki. Thanks to Flickering Myth, you can check them out below.

In Batman Ninja, the Caped Crusader is somehow transported from modern day Gotham City to Feudal Japan by Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine (don’t ask), where he must stop members of his rogues gallery, who were transported with him, from taking over the land. The 85 minute feature was directed by Junpei Mizusaki, and the English dub will feature Roger Craig Smith as Batman, Tony Hale as the Joker, and Grey Griffin as Catwoman.

Unlike several other recent DC animated movies, which boldly ventured into R-rated territory, Batman Ninja has been slapped with a softer PG-13 rating from the MPAA, so don’t expect to see those katanas cutting through flesh and bone. Either way, the film will be released on VOD in the US on April 24, and on home video on May 8. It will also open theatrically across Japan on June 15, so make sure you catch it on the big screen if you happen to be in the country at the time.
