Are Def Jam Recordings Teasing A New Game?

Def Jam

Seemingly tired of publishing music, Def Jam Recordings have taken to whipping the gaming world into a frenzy with some teasing tweets. First, back in June they tweeted out a picture of the Def Jam Vendetta cover art with D-Mob blacked out, asking who fans would like to see in a “HYPOTHETICAL” new Def Jam game.

Over the past 24 hours, the perennial cockteases over at Def Jam have tweeted out another image, asking where a potential sequel for Def Jam Fight For New York would be set, giving the options of Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles. If you ask us, the right choice would to set the game in London and have Big Shaq as the final boss. That’s money being left on the table, right there.

While the whole world collectively boarded the hype train to destination new Def Jam game, Gameinformer were on hand with a quick dose of reality. Aki, the development team responsible for the Def Jam games, along with WWF No Mercy, are now known as Syn Sophia and don’t make wrestling games any more. They also suggest that a new Def Jam game would probably be a mobile game of some sort, which quite frankly is some hellscape we want no part of.

Whether this is actually Def Jam teasing the existence of a new game in the series, or just a successful attempt by their social media team to drive up engagements is unknown right now. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait to find out.
