Gaming buff Dale explores some of the games you should be picking up this year.
1. THE DIVISION
Ubisoft’s The Division has unrivaled visuals as it’s the closest thing to real life so far. A group of players explore the open world of a post-apocalyptic New York City whilst fighting other groups of players and completing missions, all the while trying to collect food and clean water for trading. I really can’t do this game any justice by merely talking about it, so just watch the trailer.
2. WATCH DOGS
One of the most anticipated titles of 2013/14 and a release that is set to become a treasured game on my shelf. The open world adventure that walks close to how many feel in this day and age of: ‘are we being monitored too much?’ Well Aiden Pearce thinks so, and he’s prepared to do something about it.
3. MAD MAX
Anyone remember Rage? Similar premise to that only not the worst game known to man. An open world is your oyster as you try to traverse through bandits and other dangers after a nuclear fallout. Not much is known about this game except for the point of the story is for Max to get his iconic Pursuit Special back, I’ll let the trailer do all the talking.
4. THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE
The last instalment to the Elder Scrolls franchise, Skyrim, took over mine and many others lives with countless hours spent in such a huge, vibrant world and arrows to all kinds of knees. In the next instalment you get to do it all again, except this time, with the rest of the world. Set 1000 years before the events of Skyrim in the times of Molag Bal, prepare to lose yourself in the land of Tamriel.
5. METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN
Metal Gear Solid is a childhood classic and it remains to this day one of my favourite all-time games. The franchise has had its ups and downs over the years and has now merged with the popularity of sandbox gameplay to bring its next installment. Visually breathtaking, this title is set to redefine the Metal Gear franchise and set the bar very high for the future of next gen gaming.
PS.
?. QUANTUM BREAK
I’m not afraid to admit I lost a large period of my life to Alan Wake, this game was too good for it’s time and Remedy’s next title, Quantum Break, is looking like it will bring all the feelings flooding right back. Set to have a live action television series run alongside it, intertwining together. A time travel experiment gone wrong gives you the power to manipulate time in this third person shooter.
