The Derceto Manor in Alone in the Dark has plenty of blocked doors that can be a real hindrance when you’re trying to get around. There are even plenty of doors with wedges that really shouldn’t cause you an issue, but for some reason they do. Just survival horror things.
To remove door wedges in Alone in the Dark, players simply have to make main story progress and get to Chapter 2, in which they have to try and find Jeremy in a swamp. After you get to the Hateful Mound, you will be transported back to Derceto with Jeremy’s Bag. Interact with the bag after the cutscene to get a load of items, including the Palette Knife, which will now let you open the way to rooms like the Drawing Room.
Remember: make sure you actually interact with the bag as soon as you return from the swamp! We say this having learned a harsh lesson in wasting time.
