AEW looked to get Dynamite off to a great start with some star-studded matches with championship implications. Running head-to-head with NXT and the returns of Finn Balor and Tommaso Ciampa made it a tough job for fans to decide where their allegiances lie, but Dynamite put together a great debut show on TNT which established the tone for their competitive promotion.

The eyes of the world were on the Women’s division and the title match to determine the inaugural AEW Women’s champion. Riho battled Nyla Rose in a David vs Goliath style contest which later devolved into an absolute brawl. Riho eventually managed to secure the victory in a huge test of her abilities and secured her first AEW Women’s title. After the celebrations concluded, Nyla Rose attacked Riho and interviewer Michael Nakazawa. A run-in from Kenny Omega saved Riho from certain injury, so it’s safe to assume that this feud is far from over.

In the show’s main event, Kenny Omega teamed with The Young Bucks to face AEW Champion Chris Jericho and the debuting LAX. As you can imagine, this match was an excellent end to the evening. Jon Moxley hit the ring to eliminate Kenny Omega from competition, after a huge Dirty Deeds on the ramp, reigniting their feud from a couple of months back. Chris Jericho picked up the win with the Judas Effect, leading to pure mayhem after the three count.

Cody and Dustin Rhodes came down to stop a post-match beatdown from the heel team, only for Sammy Guevara to come back out to gain vengeance for his earlier loss to Cody. AEW’s latest acquisition in former WWE star Jack Hager then came to clean house. Unfortunately for the faces, Hager looked to side with Jericho and his cronies, as he continued the gang-style beatdown on Cody and Dustin, putting them through tables and leaving them in a broken heap.

Whether this is the formation of a new heel faction, we couldn’t say, but we’ll definitely be tuning in to AEW Dynamite next week to check out the fallout.
