The first slice of Battlefield V DLC was due to release today (December 4th) and conclude the War Stories as well as introduce some basics that were missing at launch. After they discovered a flaw with the update with the launch window just hours away, Dice has announced that it will be delayed.
The team has discovered an issue with the #Battlefield Chapter 1: Overture update. Rather than create issues in the game, we’re holding the update for the time being. We don’t anticipate a long delay and we’ll be back with more news tomorrow or as soon as we have it. pic.twitter.com/bc6xlWPc8e

This new comes shortly after a trailer for the content was released.
Chapter 1: Overture was set to bring a new map, The Last Tiger War Story, the Practice Range, and more, but it has now been pushed back to an as yet unspecified date, though they do not anticipate it to be a long one.
This approach to post-launch content, a similar one to Battlefront II, was conceived to stop season passes (Premium, in Battlefield speak) from fracturing the playerbase with the long-term monetisation for the game supported by cosmetic microtransactions instead.
Battlefield V launched in a strange state with plenty of its content missing after having already been delayed. It hasn’t been a great launch for the new Battlefield after it alienated some of its playerbase and also had three different release dates to the confusion of everyone.
From our Battlefield V review:
“While the gunplay and spectacle is as excellent as you would expect from a Battlefield game, the underwhelming maps, lack of content available at launch, disappointing single-player, and poor optimisation make Battlefield V a difficult day one recommendation.”
