5 Potential WrestleMania 34 Tag Partners For Braun Strowman

No man is an island. Unfortunately for The Bar, Braun Strowman is a monster and he’s a chuffing continent.

Big, bad Braun has a chance to get these hands on the Raw tag team titles at WrestleMania 34. While it’s quite conceivable that the truck-flipping Strowman could beat Sheamus and Cesaro single handedly, the monster needs to play nice and find a partner. With the majority of the roster already tied up in their own WrestleMania battles, the pickings are becoming slim. Can he find a suitable running buddy among the remaining WWE superstars? Here’s some potential WrestleMania partners for Braun Strowman and the positives and negatives of each.

1. James Ellsworth

Positives: They may not have got off to the best of starts, but Strowman and Ellsworth’s unusual WWE careers are explicitly linked. Their all too brief in-ring tussle served as a turning point in the fans’ acceptance of Braun as a legitimate monster as well as a launching pad for Ellsworth’s unlikely ascent. While he’s outmatched in most ways by The Bar, Ellsworth has proven that any man with two hands stands a fighting chance. He’s happy to play second fiddle to somebody stronger than himself such as Dean Ambrose and, er, Carmella.

Negatives: The sight of Braun leading Ellsworth around on a lead may be too much to handle. Also, Ellsworth is currently in a tag team with his dad, Gillberg, so may need some convincing.

2. Bray Wyatt

Positives: Bray Wyatt has been involved with some of the most high profile WrestleMania matches of the last five years. His last three opponents on the grandest stage of them all have been John Cena, The Undertaker and Randy Orton. He may have come out on the losing end of these battles but the fact remains, Bray has been a big feature of WrestleMania.

Strowman started his WWE main roster run as a member of Bray Wyatt’s stable of weirdos and so to team with him at Mania at least makes a bit of sense. They know each other enough to make a temporary pairing work. Maybe things come full circle and the former leader becomes the follower.

Negatives: Bray Wyatt’s carcass is currently somewhere at the bottom of The Lake of Reincarnation. Señor Benjamin may have to get his wellies on and have a scout around to make this match possible.

3. The Undertaker

WrestleMania 33

Positives: Oh, so that’s why The Undertaker isn’t responding to John Cena. He’s already committed to tagging with Braun Strowman. Taker may be an arsonist, quasi-vampire, murderer, part time biker-gang member, etc, but he never double books. Taker teaming with Strowman would make for a great WrestleMania moment, would help hide some of Undertaker’s shortcomings and piss off John Cena something royal. So everyone wins.

Even if it’s just a one night thing, the visual of seeing Braun and Undertaker side by side would be a real treat. If they wanted to run it out a bit longer, Braun could help prolong The Undertaker’s career in the same way Haku did for Andre The Giant.

Negatives: Let’s be honest, if The Undertaker turns up at WrestleMania, it’s going to be in a match or segment with John Cena.

4. Elias

Positives: Alongside Braun, Elias has been the most entertaining aspect of Monday Night Raw over the course of the last year. The fact that he doesn’t have a WrestleMania match lined up is a travesty. Maybe it’s time for Braun to walk with Elias. The two haven’t exactly seen eye-to-eye lately but a pairing of the two rising stars of WWE could be a great addition to their story.

Elias has been a revelation on the main roster and has the crowd eating out of his hands on a weekly basis. It’s time for him to step up. A tag team title reign alongside Braun Strowman could be the perfect next step along the road. There’s definitely some mileage in Elias running his mouth and hiding behind his partner.

Negatives: The last time they met, Elias found himself on the inside of a cello. The hard way.

5. Alexa Bliss

Positives: Okay, Alexa is otherwise engaged in a women’s title feud with Nia Jax, but if things go as expected, little miss Bliss could be title-less before the end of the night. So long as Nia leaves Alexa in one piece, she could well step in and help out her Mixed Match Challenge partner.

Bliss and Strowman have made a great pairing during WWE’s Facebook experiment and fans are certainly keen to see more. Team Little Big would certainly make for a WrestleMania moment, especially if they manage to win the Raw tag titles. Plus, she thinks he’s kinda cute.

Negatives: WWE have shown they are willing to promote mixed matches again but I’m not sure they’d be happy with a female competitor taking on a team of men. Also, nobody has pulled double duty at Mania since Daniel Bryan at 30.

So those are my top five picks for Braun’s WrestleMania 34 tag partner. Whoever it is, they’d better hope they walk out with the titles or Braun isn’t going to be finished with them yet. If anyone can tip over the entirety of The Superdome, it’s Braun.
